Photo Art Lesson 3: Faded Edges
How you mount your image and what kind of edge you select has a profound effect on the outcome of your final photo art. In this lesson I will show you the basics of a faded edge.  As soon as you get the hang of it, experiment with numerous possibilities in order to find your style of edge. Below you will see one style of a faded edge.

Note: There is a great Plug In available for creating edge effects from Auto FX: Photo/Edge

1-  Select your image and create a backup layer.
2- In order to create a space around an image, the easiest trick is to crop out.
(reverse of crop in.)
3 - Choose your cropping tool and make a selection around the image. (Left photo.)

4 - Drag the nodes out as shown on the image and click to confirm your command.
Notice a new white space around your image.

Note : Make sure your color palette is loaded with the default colors of a black foreground and a white background.

Cropping out will create a white frame..

5- Make a selection inside your image as you see above.
 6- Choose Select---Feather---(feather radius from 25 to 30).
7- Select --->Inverse. Now part of the image and border has been selected.

8- Make sure you have a white color in the foreground
Edit----Fill.
You should get a similar effect as shown on the image on the left.

Note: For a faded  image edge mounted on a black background, load black as your foreground color. Then Edit----Fill
